Spring Picture Day is Friday, tomorrow! We cannot wait to see all of those bright smiles ready for their photos! Say cheese, Tigers!

We are so grateful for our families who allow us to “borrow” your third graders after school as we work to strengthen their reading skills and build their confidence as readers. We are so proud of the hard work they are putting in as they prepare for IREAD-3 next week! A huge shout out to our outstanding teachers, Mrs. Harden, Mrs. Nichols, and Mrs. Thomas, for their dedication, encouragement, and commitment to helping every student succeed. Our students are ready to shine!

Our Alexandria Tigers enjoyed another special evening with family during our second Grandparent Night this week! Students in grades 3 through 6 spent meaningful time with their grandparents creating picture frames in the gym and making sundaes in the cafeteria. It was a wonderful night filled with smiles, laughter, and lasting memories. Thank you to our amazing PTO and our parent and staff volunteers for making this night so special for our families!

Thank you to our amazing staff for their hard work, preparation, and commitment to continuous improvement to better support our students. Our staff have been collaborating during professional development to strengthen reading, writing, and higher-order math skills through real-world application. When educators learn together, our Tigers succeed together!

Reading was extra exciting in the library on Friday! Students dove into a great book with Miss Nichols and used flashlights to bring their stories to life. There’s just something about reading with a flashlight that makes it even more fun! Our Tigers were hooked from the very first page. Let’s go Tigers!

This is such an exciting time for our little learners and their families, and we are thrilled to welcome you to our Alexandria Monroe Elementary family! Mr. Davis is helping build students’ confidence in their math abilities as they tackle multi step problems, especially when working with ratios and proportions. Students are collaborating with their peers and working in small groups to talk through their thinking and explain how they solve problems. Because of this teamwork, effort, and strong instruction, our sixth grade students have made tremendous growth in math this year!

We love seeing their growth, confidence, and positive attitudes shine throughout the building from our Tigers!. Keep up the great work, Tigers!

One of our awesome sixth grade students noticed that many of his classmates really enjoy strawberry milk. Instead of just talking about it, he took initiative and created a petition to show there was interest! He gathered support from his peers and thoughtfully presented his information to Ms. Bowen and Mr. Hosier. His hard work, confidence, and respectful approach truly paid off! We are so proud of our students for using their voices, showing leadership, and making a difference in our school community.

Go, Tigers! Alexandria Monroe Elementary School proudly hosted a standing ovation to cheer on our high school athletes and coaches. Our students were so excited and did an amazing job showing their support and school spirit. The energy in the building was incredible as we celebrated our Tigers together. We are so proud of our athletes and can’t wait to see all they accomplish. Let’s go, Tigers!

Mrs. Overman and her sixth grade students did an outstanding job analyzing non-fiction texts. Our students explored how authors use data and statistics, contradictions and contrasts, strong language, and quotes to convey their messages. They practiced discussing different non-fiction texts and were able to determine the author’s main message by applying non-fiction signposts. Wonderful job, sixth grade and Mrs. Overman! We’re proud of your hard work!

There is be a Tiger Food Pantry, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 11 at the elementary school. The Pantry will be held in the cafeteria. Families should park in the main lot and enter through Door 1 beginning at 4PM. Please bring your own shopping bags for your groceries.

Mrs. Howell is challenging students to think deeply as they tackle real-world area and perimeter problems. Students are working through multi-step tasks that require them to read carefully, identify the most important information, and use multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction to solve complex problems. We are so proud of our students for showing strong perseverance, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they rise to each challenge! Keep up the great work, Tigers!

Our last Tiger Readers came to the elementary on Friday! We are thankful for their leadership and encouragement!! Fight on, Tigers!!

Title I Math and Literacy Night at Alexandria Monroe Elementary has been rescheduled. Join us for a fun-filled evening of hands-on math activities the whole family will enjoy! Students and families will rotate through engaging math games, build problem-solving skills, and win prizes along the way. 🎲Tuesday, February 3 🎲 6:00–7:30 PM This is a great opportunity to learn, play, and celebrate math together. We can’t wait to see our families there for this exciting night!
